Leaf by Bellabeat
It looks like “wearables” are here to stay so I finally hopped on the smart accessories bandwagon. After researching almost every single option out there from Fitbit to Spire, I purchased the Leaf by Bellabeat.
This one stuck out to me from the start just for the sheer fact that it is designed for women (#girlpower !). This gadget not only tracks more things like your steps, calories burned, sleep, breathing and even your menstruation, but it is intended to be worn as a piece of jewelry, one that fits into your everyday life.
Not a big jewelry wearer, but I thought I would give it a try. I was not disappointed.
As soon as I opened the box, I fell in love. Minimalistic, product-centered packaging, with clear, directional infographics and simple accessories, what is not to love?
NOTHING IS MORE SATISFYING FOR A PACKAGING DESIGNER THAN FINDING AN AWESOME PRODUCT THAT COMES IN EVEN COOLER PACKAGING!
Two days in to wearing this baby, and I’m hooked! It’s like playing a game (with, not against) yourself, trying to beat your PR of daily steps. I’m already more aware of my breathing patterns throughout the day, and have consciously shifted my attention to working on my breath for reducing stress. You can set inactivity reminders where the device will buzz after a designated amount of time, prompting you to be less lazy.
The Leaf requires no charging, so unlike other trackers, you can wear it continuously and never miss a step (except underwater!). I do hope they add a little more detail to the accompanying app as I have found it a little vague in regards to instructions for breathing exercises and sleep analysis. However, the app too, is beautifully designed so I can’t complain.
The longer you wear it, the more it learns about you, so I imagine the more I’m going to learn about myself!
