Dipped Bar Top Table
First DIY post and I have to go big or go home.
This was absolutely the most daunting project I have taken on so far and even though it took me several months to complete, I couldn't be more excited with the results!
In desperate need of a "dining room" table (my couch has been the most used space for meals and it's getting a little old), I purchased this solid wood table from my coworker (another very talented designerly friend!) for $50. Structurally sound, but it was in much need of a modern face lift. The dark wood stain would not go in my all light, bright apartment and I knew I wanted something with a bit of glam. Loving all 42" of it's bar top height though, I immediately started looking for stools tall enough to fit it...more on that later.
Clearly, this table is from the era of well made furniture, I was able to confidently take it apart to paint the legs individually, falling more and more in love with each washer and bolt.
After a few weeks of doing a little bit at a time, the whole piece was finally, FINALLY all sanded and primed! On to the fun part...spray painting the legs gold for a 'dipped' look! I measured out ten inches on each leg, wrapped the rest of each leg with plastic and tape to mask off where I want the gold to end.
All done!
For now this beauty will serve as a standing work space in my living room.
