FabFitFun FALL 2016

My first FabFitFun box!

Since I started this blog project, I have been wanting to include a series called "Out of the Box" where I share the contents of whatever subscription box has just arrived (I want to try them ALL).

When I hear about these different boxes from friends, coworkers, etc, I always want to know if I'm going to be getting a good value for whatever I'm shelling out to have it delivered to my doorstep - especially for the ones that give you an assortment of items and often as a surprise. So I like to do my research.

Even so, it's not always easy to find out through the company's website what will be included or how it ships or if it's something I really would be interested in trying out. Part of the reason I started this project was to write the kind of articles and share the kinds of consumer research I am always interested in reading about. Also, as much as we all love these delivered goodies, I can't ignore the fact that packaging is so important to each of these brand experiences. As I've tried out many so far, I've noticed that some are awesome, sustainable, smart and memorable, and others definitely need some improvement. So here is my first Out of the Box experience to share! 

REASON TO BUY

This box sends you $200 worth of seasonal goodies (think trendy fashion, spa worthy beauty and cute lifestyle items) FOUR times per year (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer) for under $40. They don't tell you what to expect in each box, which is the fun part, but assume that you will love at least half of the items. MY FAVES:

The Created Co. mug came in SO handy because I was searching for a new one! It has carried me out the door every morning since I got it and made for a great instagram picture :)

I am a huge fan of Jillian Harris (from HGTV and The Bachelorette) and saw her posting about this scarf and HAD. TO. HAVE. IT. My FabFitFun box came with a different color than hers but I loved it even more!

PACKAGING

FabFitFun does a great job with their box and have a really creative way of making the packaging sustainable and the un-boxing experience memorable: they turned the outside into a coloring project! The interior and exterior design and illustration is done by a featured artist and by turning it into a coloring project, you're encouraged to keep and reuse your box instead of tossing it out (if you've read anything else on this blog, you know I'm a big fan of up-cycling!!). Each box comes with a mini catalogue showcasing an editor's note, extra info on each product and on the people and organizations behind them, and social media #'s to use to connect to others in the FabFitFun community.

LAST THOUGHTS...

Quite honestly, I was expecting to receive a box of silly items along with the scarf that I really was ordering it for, and thought that the $40 I paid for everything would be worth it for just the scarf, even if I didn't keep anything else. BUT, this box actually surprised me so much with the thoughtful packaging, the high quality products (organic and paraben-free!) and the extension to the community beyond the box that I am now counting down the days until I get my Winter 2016 box! FabFitFun absolutely has me subscribed for life.
